Welcome to my little site! I am an atmopsheric scientist working with Dr. Vanderlei Martins at the Earth and Space Institue of UMBC. Prior to this, I had been working with the ARROMA group led by Dr. Jun Wang at The University of Iowa in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
My research has focused on retrieval and assimilation of aerosol remote sensing data, with an emphasis on the integration of satellite remote sensing and numerical chemistry transport model (e.g. GEOS-Chem) to characterize aerosol emitting sources, distribution, and their interaction with climate and air quality. In particular, I develop algorithms for polarimetric remote sensing of aerosol microphysical properties (such as particle size and composition) and aerosol altitude, which are equally important as the aerosol loading to climate and air quality but more challenging to be obtained from the remotely sensed signals. I am the developer of the UNL-VRTM model, a testbed for remote sensing of atmosphere, land, and ocean. I also work on inverse modeling of speciated aerosol emissions from satellite data. Check out the research page to read more about my work.
